Report An analysis of the musical components within a musical composition.
Learning Goal: I’m working on a music writing question and need a sample draft to help me learn.
Students must select a video clip from Youtube of their liking. You should talk about the most important elements of the video clip. Consider building your report around the elements of music that you feel comfortable talking about. Kindly review the lectures that teach you the elements of music (see below)
- Melody
- Rhythm
- Harmony
- Color
- Texture and
- Form
When writing the report, be sure you address the following questions:
- Why is this piece important to you.
- If there are lyrics associated to this piece of music, analyze the meaning and how it fits to the music played.
I encourage students to do research on their element of music in order to get ideas for their reports. All reports must be original works!
Please stay away from copy/paste or paraphrasing since these will could lower your grade significantly.
Do not quote any source or anybody’s thoughts. Quotes are not permitted in this Instruments Report. I am interested in your own personal thoughts, opinions, and the material you have learned from your research.
